Waiting

We are about 20 days from our due date.
For the rest of our lives, we will be parents.
This is the reality that David stated last night as we were going to bed.
In the quiet of our room, we both agreed that we wish that she was already here and that we cannot imagine how lovely but different our lives will be after Olivia enters it.
We are excited to bring other lives into our family and spread the love.

Today, I am practicing being happy and focusing on the things that matter most.
I am happy, sometimes I just don't show it.
This brings me to the internal questioning of "what is most important?"
(This morning, this is what kept me awake)
My answers:
My family (Husband, Baby, & extended family)
Values (We have a set of family values: Honesty, Intelligence, Health, Service)
Home (Keeping the peace in it...Having peace in the home is a lot more important than being right)
Education: This falls into the category of values...but we both need to finish degrees so this deserves a bullet of its own for now.
Finances: This also demands a bullet of its own since this is our goal for this year so we can have some savings.

Somehow, I got confused along the way with serious=maturity. Not so. That is something I definitely do not want to teach our baby.

I've been lucky these past weeks. My best friend, Jenna came. My mom came. I haven't seen both of them for almost a year.

This is where we are at right now. Thankful and anxiously awaiting.

Maybe that is the problem with me...instead of waiting for what I want, I need to be more proactive and CREATE or RETRIEVE.

Love, Jennifer Robin Bartlett Conover

"As you create a home, don't get distracted with a lot of things that have no meaning for you or your family. Don't dwell on your failures, but think about your successes. Have joy in your home. Have joy in your children. Have joy in your husband. Be grateful for the journey."
